Retail Pharmacy Technician

Position Summary: Assist licensed pharmacist in expediting prescription processing by performing all duties necessary and in accordance with established pharmacy principles, policies and procedures and/or law.

Responsibilites/Duties:

  • Receive new prescriptions and verify that information is complete and accurate
  • Receive and process refill requests
  • Prepares and procures medicines and pharmaceutical preparations according to written orders by authorized medical providers
  • Call insurance companies and adjudicate claims, when required
  • Answer incoming phone calls, and respond to requests
  • Process refill authorizations
  • Retrieve medications from stock
  • Prepare records for delivery
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results
  • Contribute to inventory control measures
  • Assist with quality improvement for the pharmacy department
  • Contribute to maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by their supervisors

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of pharmacy technician experience preferred

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred (CPhT)

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Standing for up to 12 hours
  • Having a range of motion from kneeling, to bending over to raising arms above head to retrieve stock
  • Lifting and/or carrying up to 40 lbs
  • Reading fine and/or small print
  • Working off a computer screen for 8-10 hours a day

Work Status:

  • Full-time or Part-time
  • Monday-Friday 8:00AM-7:00PM
  • Rotating Saturdays 9:00AM-5:00PM
  • Sundays-CLOSED
  • Additional hours possible in October
