Long Term Care Pharmacy Technician

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Long Term Care Pharmacy Technician performs day-to-day duties under the supervision of the Long Term Care Pharmacy Technician Supervisor in accordance with established pharmacy principles, policies, and procedures and/or law.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Data Entry of patient/facility information & prescription orders
  • Customer service (i.e, receiving and processing order requests)
  • Daily fill including controlled substances
  • Prescription fulfillment (i.e., various packaging, ATC, Dosis, Parata, Compounding, IV preparations)
  • Staging items for delivery
  • Answering phones and processing refills
  • Other duties inherent to pharmacy operations, as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Typing and/or data entry skills
  • Computer, email, fax and scan knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment/self-driven
  • Ability to take direction
  • Dependable/adaptable
  • Customer service/phone etiquette

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a related field; or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
  • Long Term Care experience Preferred

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent

PROFESSIONAL LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Preferred (CPhT)

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting and/or standing for up to 10 hours/day.
  • Having a range of motion from kneeling, to bending over to raining arms above head to retrieve stock
  • Lifting and/or carrying up to 40 pounds
  • Reading fine and/or small print
  • Working off a computer screen for up to 10 hours/day

WORK STATUS:

  • Full-time
  • Monday-Friday 8:30a-6:30p
  • Monday-Friday 1:30p-10:00p (one shift per week)
  • Saturday/Sunday 9:00a-5:00p (rotating weekends)
  • Some holidays required
